A Little About Me
First of all, my real name is Andrew Jones. Bones was a nickname I picked up in high school (I never complained, much worse were going around) and have signed my artwork with ever since. I’m a Manchester-based artist and illustrator with over 20 years’ experience drawing and painting in Photoshop. My journey into the world of 3D art began back in 2017 when I bought a copy of Zbrush, originally intending to learn how to use it just well enough to make simple reference models for my illustrations. I soon found out that I really enjoyed 3D modelling and design - and seemed to have a knack for it.

What Software Do I Use?
I still primarily use Zbrush for most modelling projects, but now make use of Blender when tackling more geometric forms and for cutting and arranging UV maps; Topogun for retopology; Substance Painter for baking and texturing; and Marmoset Toolbag for rendering. I find this a powerful combination that allows me to confidently approach projects of almost any type. For more information, please take a look at my Workflow page.

What Can I Do?
I enjoy creating characters, creatures, props, and environmental designs. I mainly specialize in realistic work (as with my 2D art) as I love getting lost in the little details, but can create stylized pieces such as the skull mascot in my logo if needed. From a very young age, I’ve loved movie special effects and makeup, and am hugely inspired by effects artists like Rob Bottin, Rick Baker, Stan Winston, and Steve Johnson. This is why I particularly enjoy building creatures and really trying to bring them to life with realistic textures.

I enjoy both creating my own designs from scratch, and building realistic models from existing reference material or concepts.

I can, of course, still create high quality 2D illustrations, and if involved in a project could also produce splash pages and promotional material.
